Imagine feeling joyful, centered, focused, aligned, and energized as you dive into your workday. Like you could take on anything and that nothing could stop you from accomplishing your goals. Like all of your dreams are on their way to you.
That’s what an aligned and inspired morning routine will do. By spending those precious minutes in the morning indulging in a few of your favorite things, you set yourself up for success, abundance, and a productive workday ahead.
When I fall off track with my morning routine, my life feels infinitely more chaotic. I’m less grounded, intuitive, and creative throughout the day, and I never manage to get as much done as I’d like to. Needless to say, when I made the connection between my morning routine and how the rest of my day goes, my commitment to my routine deepened.
Below I’m sharing:
- My 6-step morning routine
- Tips to help you craft your own magical morning routine
- A list of 15+ activities you can include in your routine (I did some crowdsourcing from my community to line up the best of the best!)
If you’re tired of your work day feeling scattered, hectic, and like you never get enough done, a set morning routine will be your new best friend. Let me run you through mine and then we’ll talk about creating yours!
My 6-Step Magical Morning Routine
My morning routine is pretty simple, and it all takes place at the desk in my office. There are six steps in total and the whole thing takes me less than twenty minutes.
I begin by turning to a new page in my “morning routine” notebook, writing the date at the top, and then I’m ready to dive in.
Step 1. Set intentions
I begin by setting five clear intentions for the day ahead.
I ask myself questions like…
“What do I want to happen today?”
“What do I want to accomplish?”
“How do I want to feel?”
“What do I want to manifest?”
I then write down my five intentions as statements in the present tense. I like sticking to five intentions because it feels like enough to cover all of my bases: I can create intentions around my business and workday, money, my personal life, my health, my relationships, and anything else that’s on my mind that day.
As an example, here are some intentions I set recently:
I secure three glowing testimonials from my former clients.
I write beautiful and impactful content for the KD community.
I get all of my work done with plenty of time to spare.
I manifest $300 in passive income.
I make healthy choices and cook a delicious dinner.
When you set clear intentions at the beginning of your day, you let the universe know exactly what you want and expect. And expectation is truly the key to manifesting anything you desire, because when you expect something to show up, it has no choice but to manifest!
Step 2. Repeat positive affirmations.
Affirmations are an amazing way to reprogram your subconscious mind for success and abundance. By repeating your affirmations over and over, it’s kind of like “tricking” your brain into viewing those statements as your reality. Your Higher Self then sets out to find the most direct path to bring you whatever it is that you desire.
I like to create 3-5 affirmations every day and write them down in my notebook. I then read my list of affirmations out loud at least three times before moving on.
Here are a few examples of positive affirmations that I love:
Money flows to me from new and unexpected sources.
I am happy, healthy, wealthy, and well.
Something wonderful is about to happen to me.
It is safe for me to have more money than I could ever need, want, or spend.

Step 3. Create a gratitude list.
I’m not the first person to yammer on about gratitude lists, and I’m sure I won’t be the last. But they really are your BFF when it comes to manifesting your dream life and business! When you express gratitude, the high-vibe energy you put out into the universe attracts more wonderful things for you to be grateful for.
For this step, I write down the heading, “Thank you for…” and then create a list of 10-15 things that I’m especially thankful for that day. I try to switch up the items so my lists don’t get too repetitive, which also forces me to think outside the box (beyond the obvious things like my boyfriend, my family, my business, etc.).
Once I’ve created my list and am happy with it, I read each item aloud and let the waves of gratitude wash over me like beautiful rays of sunshine.
I begin each line by saying, “Thank you for…” and then read the item. It sounds something like this: “Thank you for my desk. Thank you for my breakfast. Thank you for the beautiful weather. Thank you for my clients.”
This exercise feels so amazing that sometimes I’ll read my list out loud multiple times, just to soak in all the good vibes. Seriously, try it for yourself and tell me if you don’t feel amazing afterward!
Step 4. Tap into my intuition.
I always like to get a little guidance from my intuition before beginning my workday. For this step, I use my trusty deck of oracle cards (the Angel Answers deck by Doreen Virtue and Radleigh Valentine, which are gorgeous) and come up with 1-3 questions I’d like answers to that day.
I write the questions down in my notebook, shuffle my deck, and select one card for each question. I then flip the cards over, read the answers, and soak in the guidance. Sometimes the answer makes perfect sense, and other times I have to let go of my need to understand everything and trust that things will unfold the way they’re meant to.
Step 5. Meditate
I’ll admit that if I skip any steps in my morning routine, it’s Steps 5 and 6 (but I’m trying to be better about it, so feel free to hold me accountable over on Instagram!).
In Step 5, I spend 5-10 minutes meditating, relaxing, and returning to my breath. Meditation has countless benefits for your mental and physical health, and it’s one of the quickest and simplest ways to boost your mood if you’re feeling stuck, unmotivated, or uninspired.
I like to listen to nature sounds while I meditate, but you can meditate in silence or even by listening to a guided meditation. I’ve heard that the Headspace app is great for guided meditations.
Step 6. Visualize
To wrap up, I spend five minutes working with my energy by visualizing my future self, future life, and dream business. Depending on what’s going on in my life at the time, I might also visualize something specific that I’m trying to manifest, like a car, a new client, an income goal, etc.
The key to visualization is to really feel as if the things you’re imagining have already come true — as if they’re already your reality. Feeling those positive, joyful, excited emotions is what sets you on the path to manifesting wonderful things, relationships, and experiences in your life.
I walk you through a short and sweet guided meditation and visualization in my free guide, 7 Steps to Manifest Anything, so don’t miss out on grabbing your free copy!
And that’s it for my morning routine. Depending on how I feel, I might also read or practice yoga, but that doesn’t happen daily. I try to listen to my intuition and do what feels good on that particular day, never forcing myself to do things that don’t excite or inspire me.
How to Craft Your Magical Morning Routine
The first thing I want to note is that there’s no perfect length or perfect number of activities to include in your morning routine. So if you don’t have a morning routine in place, don’t be afraid to start small with just a few simple activities that take 5-10 minutes.
I like to carry out my routine first thing in the morning before doing anything else, and that’s what I suggest for you, too. Don’t forget that your morning routine is YOU time, so try your best to get away from other people, distractions, noise, etc.
Magical Morning Routine Activities
To get your juices flowing, I’ve put together a big list of activities you can incorporate into your magical morning routine. This includes the six activities from my own routine that I shared above plus some awesome ideas the KD community shared with me on Instagram.
- Set intentions for the day
- Make a gratitude list
- Go for a walk
- Do something creative (write, paint, whatever you love!)
- Repeat positive affirmations
- Tap into your intuition with oracle or tarot cards
- Listen to music
- Enjoy your coffee and breakfast in peace and quiet
- Take a bath instead of your usual shower

Two Questions to Ask When Creating Your Magical Morning Routine
There are only two questions to ask yourself when putting together your magical morning routine. They are:
1. What activities make me feel good? (Happy, high-vibe, energetic, centered)
2. What would my future-self be doing in her morning routine?
Ask yourself these questions, let your imagination run wild, and jot down all of the ideas and activities that come up. Then it’s as simple as selecting your favorites from the list to create your routine.
Don’t wait for things to be “perfect” or “Instagram-worthy” before coming up with a routine and sticking to it. The way your morning routine makes you feel is so much more important than how it looks, what activities you do, how long it takes you, or anything else.
Tell me, gorgeous: do you have a morning routine? If so, what does it involve? And if not, I hope this post inspires you to create one of your own and commit to it!
